Jerry Love
Jerry started his scouting experience in 1958 as a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and in 1964 received his Eagle Scout Award. He was also the Lodge Chief of the Order of the Arrow, the equivalent of FCF Scout. He was a State, New England and Big Sky Conference Track and Field champion and record holder in the ½ mile, and was awarded NH Athlete of the Month in May of 1967. In 1976, Jerry was a national Outstanding Young Men of America recipient.
In 1992, Jerry’s pastor appointed him the Senior Commander of Outpost 36 in Tilton, a position he held up until his recent appointment as District Commander. In 1998, Jerry was asked to serve as NNED White Mountain and Southeast Sectional Commander, and in 1999, was appointed NNED Public Relations Coordinator. In 2003, he was asked to serve on the Regional Staff as Regional Camps & Productions Coordinator. He is an NTC graduate, has served as an ANTC Instructor, and is a member of FCF. In 2000, his Outpost hosted the Regional Ranger of the Year. In October of 2004, Jerry was appointed District Commander of Northern New England
Jerry is a civil engineer currently working as a Realtor on “Golden Pond” in Holderness. He is a past member of his church board, and a current board member of the N.H. Bible Society. He currently lives in North Sandwich, New Hampshire with his wife of 36 years, N.H. author Rita Dawn Love. Rita and Jerry are the parents of 7 children, and in May proudly announced the graduation of their 7th child from college.
Their oldest son, Garrett, is a graduate of MIT, and holds a PhD from Duke University. Their daughter Ginger holds a Masters degree from Columbia University, and is currently a teacher at the Tilton School. Their son, Fayvor is a graduate of Princeton, lives in San Francisco, and works as a software engineer. Nolan also lives in San Francisco, is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and is the CEO of a small consulting firm.
Their daughter, Chapel, is a graduate of Vassar College, was an All American lacrosse player, and is currently head coach of women’s lacrosse at Clarkson University. Aubrey, who has been the lacrosse leader at the last two Pow Wow’s, is a graduate of Colby college, holds a Masters degree in Physics education, and is a physics teacher and head coach at Brookline High School in Mass. Youngest daughter, Echo, is a recent graduate of Dartmouth, and is currently applying to veterinary school.
