Ken Bustard is a Husson College graduate and the Chief Financial Officer for OHI, a large not-for-profit agency in Bangor, ME. He is a member of the Executive Management team and oversees a Finance staff of seven employees. He also works out of his home as a private tax practitioner with a small client base.

Ken started as a Pioneer Commander in the newly created Outpost #29 in Bangor, ME in 1994. Shortly thereafter he assumed the role of Senior Commander, which he held until 2001. He served as the Northern, Central and South Central Sectional Commander for about two years. During that time he developed and continues to be involved with “Maine Adventure Day,” a joint sectional Pow-Wow for Maine outposts held each June.

Ken has attended National Training Camp, Winter NTC, National Training Trails and National Canoe Expedition. He has served on staff at the NNED Junior Leadership Training Camp, NNED Junior Canoe Expedition, New Jersey Advancement Academy, SNED Security Color Guard Camp as well as a Winter National Training Camp. He has organized and served as Camp Commander for Maine Yukon Day, the District Winter Pow-Wow, since 1998.

Cdr. Ken has become well know for “Cdr’s Ken Store,” which he created and continues to develop for each Pow-Wow and Maine Yukon Day. Boys always look forward to special deals and unusual items for sale. The proceeds of the store are used to purchase needed items in the Royal Ranger ministry in NNED. To date, the proceeds have been used to purchase a 14 foot dual axle trailer, 10 .22 caliber rifles, 4 Daisy air rifles, 4 two-way radios, Water bag for SNED Security and four propane stoves.

He became an Instructor Trainer in 2003 and shortly thereafter assumed the role of District Training Coordinator. Cdr. Ken has developed a core of Certified Instructors and publishes the “Training Update” newsletter, which is distributed to all Commanders in N.N.E.D.

Ken has been married for 24 years to Pearl and has two Children, Kimberly and Benjamin. Kimberly was married in the summer of 2004 and attends University of Mass at Lowell. Benjamin earned his Gold Medal of Achievement in 2003 and will graduate from Bucksport High School in the Spring of 2006.
